The news for BMW's 2014 7 Series is no news. The line starts with the 740Li xDrive, which comes with a turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder making 315 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque and rides on the stretched wheelbase reserved for cars with that 'L' in their names. Next up the ladder are the 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive, both of which use a 4.4L turbocharged V8 making 443 hp/480 lb-ft, and they're followed by the 760Li, which gets a turbocharged 6.0L V12 good for 536 hp/553 lb-ft. Finally, there's the ActiveHybrid 7, a gas-electric model that pairs the 740Li's inline six with an electric motor that boosts power output to 465 hp/516 lb-ft.
All versions of this car share an eight-speed automatic transmission, and as the xDrive nomenclature suggests, 740Li, 750i, and 750Li models are all-wheelers, while the 760Li and ActiveHybrid 7 are rear- wheel drive.
740Li xDrive models start with 19-inch wheels, self-levelling rear air suspension, steerable Xenon headlights, automatic engine start/stop, brake energy regeneration, LED taillights, headlight washers, electric parking brake with auto-hold, heated winshield washer jets, front and rear park assist, rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure warning, front knee airbags, power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors, auto-dimming interior mirror, intelligent keyless entry, dynamic cruise control with braking function, sunroof, power-adjustable and heated steering wheel, garage door opener, heated front and outboard rear Nappa leather seats, four-zone air conditioning, 16-speaker stereo with hard-disk media storage, pre-wiring for satellite radio and auxiliary input, navigation, and 10.2-inch iDrive display.
The 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive packages adds chrome-plated side window trim, and ActiveHybrid 7 trim builds on those models, adding a Nappa leather dash upper panel, and ventilated front seats.
760Li trim gets 20-inch wheels, integral active steering, LED front foglights, active blind spot detection, active cruise control with stop and go, lane departure warning, backup camera and surround view cameras, soft-close doors and trunklid, high-gloss shadowline window trim, Alcantara roofliner, ceramic controls, M steering wheel, ski bag for trunk pass-through, active front seats, ventilated rear seats, massaging rear seatbacks, electric rear and side sunshades, rear-seat entertainment system, and satellite radio tuner.
